CSAs to the rescue (2/4)

Community Supported Agriculture
The idea of solving dizzying healthy eating conundrums with one simple decision seems almost too easy. CSAs are co-operatives connecting communities with local family farms. The farm is certified organic. They are local. They use sustainable farming methods. They set the prices so it’s also fair trade. Delicious.

How it works

CSA members buy 1 share of the farm’s produce for 24 weekly portions of fresh veggies and herbs. Our particular farm, Stoneledge Farm is 2 hours away on 90 acres of Catskills. Stoneledge distributes to more 16 CSAs from the West Village to Stamford, CT — they serve over 1,000 shares. Chelsea CSA also makes provision of discounted shares for lower-income families (below $28,000/yr) to pay $390 a share.
